Our client designs, customizes and manufactures class-leading process equipment for the life sciences sector.  Harty Search & Selection has been retained to manage the appointment of an experienced Technical Sales Manager to grow the company’s non-capital sales, developing and selling innovative service solutions, technical partnering and advanced consultancy across its European customer base.

Reporting to the Global Director of Service Sales and based out of Ireland, the appointed candidate will develop the sales of services for biopharma processing equipment.  Customers will include small, medium and large-scale companies in Ireland and the UK specializing in the manufacture of biopharmaceutical products.

Some of the key responsibilities are:

  • Identify, qualify, and develop new business opportunities for service and new equipment.
  • Maintain full accountability for sales within the territory.
  • Plan, develop, implement and follow up on sales activity including key account strategies and other sales development activities.
  • Independently explore new opportunities and follow up proactively.
  • Lead technical and process related discussions with subject matter experts at customer sites.  Coordinate product and technical presentations and represent the client company at relevant industry conferences.
  • Coordinate customer visits to the client facilities for the purposes of technical discussions and product demonstration.
  • Contribute information to sales strategies by evaluating current sales trends, identifying needs to be filled and monitoring competitor products.


The ideal candidate will have a Degree in an Engineering, Science or Business discipline.

They will also have a minimum of 5 year’s prior sales experience in the biopharma manufacturing sector allied to strong technical knowledge of process engineering, equipment engineering or design engineering.  Similarly, knowledge of biopharma processing through operational roles in clinical or commercial scale manufacturing is seen as attractive.

They will have excellent communications and presentation skills as well as being motivated to achieve targets and results.  They will also have an ability to influence decision makers within a customer’s organization such as plant engineering, process engineering, maintenance operations, quality, process development, procurement, etc.
