Interim Site HR Manager

Based in the mid-west and reporting to the General Manager, as well as functionally out of the site, this position will assume leadership for all operational HR at a large manufacturing operation.

The role is focused on leading a small and very effective HR team in delivering the HR and business agenda at the site.  Of particular interest is the coaching and development of managers and supervisors as the site has expanded and afforded developmental opportunities to supervisory, middle manager and technical specialist staff.

Key areas of responsibility will include:

  • Delivery of all aspects of the strategic and operational Human Resource service to business units.
  • Proactively work with the leadership team members to understand their business requirements and to support their business with proactive HR services appropriate to their needs.
  • Manage HR Service Delivery, Employee Relations, Performance Management, Recruitment and Employee Relations.
  • Manage the administration of the annual pay review process within budget and to ensure competitive position is maintained and Company policy is interpreted consistency and fairly.
  • Proactive identification of employee relations prior to escalation and remediate / find resolutions with a win-win objective philosophy.
  • Act as first point of contact for key stakeholders in the business, building trusted relationships with managers, employees and employee representatives.
  • Partner with business managers to effectively and efficiently source high quality talent through recruitment best practice as well as developing capability of staff.

 

At a minimum, a Degree qualification in Human Resource Management.  Additional qualifications to Masters level are advantageous.  They will have a minimum of 10 years career experience with at least 4 years at head of function level on a site of 200-plus employees.

An instinct for understanding the wider business is important, as a driver of proactively understanding the business environment and its impact on how people are managed – and how they are developed – as a resource to the business.

Ideally candidates will have an affinity for coaching and developing people with a track record of seeing and responding to this as a continuous and progressive process.

They will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, demonstrated by the ability to positively influence within and outside the organization.

They will have a track record in positively influencing and leading people to obtain results through team work.

They will have the ability to analyze & process high volumes of information, manage multiple priorities in a timely manner; with precise attention to detail; a high degree of accuracy & extensive problem solving experience.
